DESTEK Elite Strap makes the Quest 2 1000% better

The Oculus Quest 2 is a great VR headset for anyone looking to dip their toes into virtual reality, but if I had one complaint about Oculus' standalone headset (apart from the mandatory Facebook account requirement), it would be the uncomfortable little knobbly bits on its elasticated head strap. They're just too painful to use the Quest 2 for any significant length of time, and they always give me a nasty headache for the rest of the day. Happily, I've since discovered that the DESTEK's Elite Strap accessory eliminates this problem entirely, and is well worth getting if, like me, you want to be able to play Half-Life: Alyx without feeling like you've got a real-life head crab hugging your skull.

I only tested the Elite Strap with Battery, so I can say that the extra weight of the battery doesn't affect the overall wearing experience of the headset, and I recommend sticking with the Elite Strap with Battery if you constantly find yourself running out of power during a typical gaming session.

The effect of being alive is transformative. Whereas the basic straps often had me ripping off the headset after about an hour (90 minutes max), the Elite Strap allowed me to continue exploring as far as my weakened muscles would allow. For example, after my first Beat Saber session with the Elite band, it wasn't that I had to sit down and take a break due to pain. It was due to actual fatigue, as I had been merrily swinging my arms for at least a couple of hours without even the slightest discomfort.

No tingling here, no, sir.
I'm glad, and not just because my extremely unhealthy limbs can take so much physical exertion after months of shut-in laziness. I was pleased because it immediately solved one of my big problems with Quest 2 and made it much more enjoyable to use on a regular basis. I no longer look at it with trepidation and think, "If I put this on, I'm going to get a splitting headache". Instead, I actually started looking forward to using it at the end of a long day. For example, I didn't think the Quest 2 was a viable fitness device until I tried using the Elite Strap, but now I actually have some motivation to get up and shake my old bones and do some actual (albeit light) exercise every now and then. I don't think I've ever been more ecstatic about £50 worth of plastic, and it makes the Quest 2 a proper successor to the Rift S I've been hoping for from the start.
