To use the controller to play games, download the supported app in the "Controller" selection and Ensure the controller is in the GAME mode (combined key @+A) once connected to your Android phone.    See a video tutorial

You are not limited to the recommended apps, because you can always search "VR" on your Appstore or Google Play Store to find more interesting apps. (not all apps are supporting the touch button or the remote controller.)
